Deadly Car Accident in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 19, 2024) — Four people died early Friday morning in a violent crash on State Route 163 at the Interstate 805 Freeway interchange in Kearny Mesa.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash occurred on southbound SR-163 at around 1:30 a.m. on July 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the drivers of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a Toyota Prius crashed and both overturned on the highway. The sedan was totaled in the crash and the pickup also had major damage.
Paramedics responded and located four people with major injuries from the Prius with two dead on scene and two who died at the hospital. The victims were not identified, but three of them were males ages 25, 26 and 27 years old.
Meanwhile, Aleim Alavez Garcia, 24, who was driving the pickup, and Edward Frederick Poss, 32, the driver of the Prius, were taken to the hospital for their injuries and later arrested on suspicion of DUI of alcohol and/or drugs.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation.
