CHINO HILLS, California (October 20, 2016) – Four students were injured in a traffic collision near a high school Thursday afternoon, according to The Press Enterprise.
The crash was reported at 2:22 p.m. in front of Ruben S. Ayala High School on Peyton Drive.
As per the article, sheriff’s department said 32-year-old Travis James Weible was seen driving erratically and was involved in two separate non-injury accidents down the road.
Weible, of Riverside, was traveling north on Peyton Drive in his 2012 Honda Civic when he slammed into a cement streetlight on the east sidewalk just north of the school.
At the same time, four high school students, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were walking north on the sidewalk on Peyton Drive.
Some parts of the shattered light hurt the three youngest students, while debris and the vehicle apparently hit the 17-year-old student.
The 17-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital and was last listed in critical condition. Weible was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
