4-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 395 in Lee Vining, Mono County

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2026) — Four vehicles were involved in a crash Thursday in Lee Vining on southbound U.S. Highway 395 near Picnic Grounds Road in the Mono Lake area, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch information.
The crash, reported on Sept. 3rd around 12:33 p.m., involved a red Dodge Durango, olive-colored Toyota, blue Honda and silver Ford.
According to CHP dispatch notes, the Honda sustained the most damage. Investigators reported that the Ford struck the Honda from behind, pushing the Honda into the Toyota, which then collided with the red Dodge Durango.
All four vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction crash.
CHP later reported that all traffic was stopped while emergency personnel worked at the scene. By approximately 12:53 p.m., the scene was cleared and units were able to reduce their response, although a tow truck was requested.
A tow-related response was being coordinated with Lee Vining, with CHP noting shortly before 1 p.m. that assistance was en route.
The highway was subsequently reported open at approximately 1:56 p.m.
The available CHP information did not indicate whether anyone was injured in the crash. Additional details about the circumstances leading to the collision were not immediately available.
