Van Hits Students at Crosswalk on Pony Express Trail
Pollock Pines, CA (May 31, 2023) – Five children suffered injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Pony Express Trail Wednesday morning, May 31.
Major Pedestrian Accident in Pollock Pines
The KCRA3 News reported a group of students were walking across a marked crosswalk on Pony Express Trail near Oak Street. While in the middle of the roadway, an oncoming Ford E-150 struck the juveniles. Preliminary investigation revealed the students were all from a Montessori school located at a strip mall in Pollock Pines.
Shortly after 10:42 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics immediately rendered aid to all children involved in the collision. According to the article published online, a boy and a girl who sustained major trauma were taken to UC Davis Medical Center. Another boy with major injuries was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Lastly, emergency crews transferred another girl and boy with minor injuries to Marshall Medical Center. The names of the patients and their conditions at this time remained undisclosed.
The 21-year-old man driving the van stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation process.
At this time, detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the pedestrian accident that happened on Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines.
