5 Killed in Fatal Small Plane Crash in Santa Ana Parking Lot near South Coast Plaza
SANTA ANA, Calif. (August 5, 2018) — Five people died after a twin-engine aircraft crashed Sunday afternoon, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The plane crashed about 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a
Staples Supercenter at 3861 S. Bristol Street near Sunflower Avenue.
The Orange County Fire Authority and Costa Mesa fire units responded to the 3900 block of Bristol Street in Santa Ana, which is near South Coast Plaza. It’s unknown at this time if anyone on the ground was hurt or among the dead.
The collision is just about a mile northwest of John Wayne Orange County Santa Ana Airport.
There are few details known at this time, but updates will be made.
