5 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 160 (River Road) in Walnut Grove

WALNUT GROVE, Calif. (July 2, 2025) — A multi-vehicle collision on State Route 160 (River Road) at the junction with State Route 220 sent five people to the hospital Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. on July 2nd, involving at least five vehicles, including a white GMC Yukon, a gold minivan, a white Dodge Durango, and a black Tesla. Emergency crews, including Sacramento County firefighters, responded to the chaotic scene where vehicles were reported scattered across both lanes of the roadway.

According to dispatch records, some parties were possibly trapped inside their vehicles, prompting an urgent response from paramedics and rescue personnel. At least five individuals were transported to Kaiser Permanente for moderate injuries, CHP confirmed.

Tow services were called to remove three of the vehicles, two of which sustained major damage. The roadway was fully cleared and traffic resumed normal flow by 9:56 a.m., after nearly an hour of delays.

The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. No citations or arrests have been reported as of Wednesday afternoon.

Drivers are urged to use caution and remain alert when traveling through the area, especially at the busy SR-160 and SR-220 intersection, known for limited visibility and cross-traffic.
