5 Injured in North Wilmington Boulevard Crash at W. Opp Street
LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 28, 2025 — A violent two-car collision injured at least five people and severely damaged a utility pole Sunday night in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said.
Major Crash Rocks Wilmington Neighborhood
The crash was reported around 7 p.m. on April 27th near North Wilmington Boulevard and West Opp Street, according to Los Angeles Police Department. The impact sent one vehicle crashing into a utility pole, causing heavy damage to the car’s hood, meanwhile the second vehicle was thrown into the center of the intersection, witnesses told local media.
KTLA 5 News reported that at least five people suffered injuries in the collision. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and the injured were transported to local hospitals. However, the severity of the injuries and the identities of those involved have not yet been confirmed.
Utility Pole Damaged, Investigation Underway
Along with extensive vehicle damage, a utility pole near the crash site was also snapped, raising concerns about potential electrical hazards in the area. Emergency crews quickly secured the scene to prevent further incidents.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers have not ruled out speed, impairment, or mechanical failure as contributing factors.
