She was one of five people injured including two children when a suspected drunken driver crashed into two stopped vehicles on Vernon Avenue near Stanford Avenue, according to a report by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The crash took place about 12:11 a.m. The suspected DUI driver allegedly crashed into one or two stopped vehicles. The young woman had stopped to jump-start the car of another woman. The second woman a 51-year-old woman whose vehicle broke down and was parked on Vernon Avenue. The woman had a 2-year-old girl and a 6-month-old girl in her car. The 25-year-old woman who stopped to help was hospitalized and undergoing surgery. She is in danger of losing a leg, but none of those injured had life-threatening injuries, police said.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Bureau is heading up the investigation into the crash. The suspect driver was also hospitalized and is expected to be arrested and charged with DUI.
