Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested for DUI, Hit-and-run
PALM DESERT, Calif. (June 4, 2018) — Jeremy Tellez, 37, of Palm Desert, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run following a major injuries collision involving five motorists at Fred Waring Drive and Monterey Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash took place about 12:39 p.m. on Friday, June 1 in Palm Desert. Tellez’s Nissan Altima reportedly rear-ended a Toyota Yaris, pushing it forward into the back of a Toyota Highlander. The Nissan also crashed into a Honda Civic and the impact caused that vehicle to crash into a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
2 Hurt in 5-Vehicle Palm Desert Crash
The driver in the Toyota Yaris suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Tellez, who initially fled the scene and later returned, had minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. Three of the vehicles suffered major damage in the collision.
The other three drivers did not suffer any immediate injuries.
Police determined that Tellez was driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
The crash remains under investigation by the Palm Desert Police Department.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Police are investigating this collision and it appears that they have determined fault. Mr. Tellez is facing DUI and hit-and-run charges for allegedly causing this collision. Several people were hurt and their vehicles destroyed in this collision due to his actions, police said in the report.
