3 Children Seriously Hurt, 3 Others Sustain Minor Injuries
The collision occurred in the pick-up parking area of Del Mar Heights Elementary School on Boquita Drive about 2:35 p.m.
As per the article, San Diego police said the 70-year-old woman was backing up her Honda sedan into a parking spot when she slammed into another vehicle. The motorist reportedly panicked and stepped on the gas, jumping a curb and hitting the children.
San Diego Fire-Rescue affirmed that three of the young victims were badly hurt, including a 5-year-old with a broken femur. Three others sustained minor injuries.
All six patients were transported to the hospital with wounds described as non-life-threatening.
Meanwhile, UT San Diego added a person running to help the children involved fell and was treated at the school for minor scrapes. The 70-year-old woman and a child in the Honda also were treated at the scene.
