2-Vehicle Crash at Ceres Intersection
CERES, Calif. (August 8, 2024) — Six people were injured in a two-vehicle Ceres crash on July 26th at Service Road and Moore Road.
The collision occurred at around 2:20 p.m. between the drivers of a 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a 2019 Audi Q8 SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Ceres Courier reported driver, Gerard Garcia, 49, of Soledad, was traveling southbound on Moore Road in the pickup truck when he allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection.
The eastbound Audi SUV traveling on Service Road reportedly broadsided the Toyota Tacoma and Garcia was ejected from his truck through a passenger side window. Police noted he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Paramedics responded and transported Gerard Garcia to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of broken ribs and a fractured spine.
Meanwhile, Rosalyn Sperry, 55, of Hughson, who was driving the Audi was treated for a minor foot injury and her front seat passenger, Maria Fatima, 52, of Stevinson, had complaints of pain, but was not taken to a hospital.
Also, the back seat passengers included Mary Jo Brasil, 62, of Turlock, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Two other backseat passengers, Miranda Souza, 34, and Morgan Sperry, 25, both of Hughson, had minor injuries.
Finally, the CHP is handling the investigation into liability for the crash, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
