Deadly 4-Vehicle Crash Sets Off Brush Fire
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2024) — Six people are dead after a multi-vehicle crash on Gilman Springs Road near Bridge Street in Riverside County.
The deadly collision occurred on Gilman Springs Road at 2:19 p.m. on Sept. 9th, in the unincorporated community of Lakeview, according to CBS News.
A driver reportedly used the right shoulder to pass the other motorists and then ran out of room, struck a guardrail and swerved into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle collided with three others in a chain-reaction crash and all four vehicles became engulfed in flames. Also, the collision set off a brush fire that consumed roughly three acres and multiple road closures in the area.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the deaths of six people including the driver who caused the accident.
One of the vehicles was pushed off the roadway into a field where it caught fire. Two children and an adult in the vehicle died at the scene. Two others also died in the crash, but there are no further details at this time.
Four people were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley with minor to serious injuries.
Among the injured was a front-seat passenger with major injuries who was riding with the driver who allegedly caused the collision.
An investigation into the fatal crash on Gilman Springs Road is underway.
