Multi-Vehicle Adelanto Car Accident
ADELANTO, Calif. (June 21, 2024) — A child was severely injured in a multi-vehicle traffic collision early Thursday on U.S. Highway 395 and Calleja Road in Adelanto.
Six vehicles including a semi-truck were involved in the accident at around 12:36 a.m., on Thursday, June 20, 2024, according to Victor Valley News Group.
The major-injury collision occurred at the intersection due to unknown circumstances.
Paramedics and sheriff’s deputies responded and located several people with a range of injuries including a five-year-old girl with serious injuries who was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center. The child, identified as Dalilah Coleman, has a broken femur and a fractured skull with pressure building up in her brain. Doctors reportedly removed part of the girl’s skull to remove pressure on her brain, according to CBS News.
The child’s father, Marcus Coleman, told CBS News the truck driver possibly fell asleep behind the wheel prior to the crash. Investigators have not determined the cause at this time.
