The crash involving multiple vehicles took place about 1:10 p.m., on westbound Highway 58 at South H Street.
In an article by Bakersfield Now, CHP said five vehicles including a big rig were involved in the accident. The truck driver was allegedly traveling fast for a rainy weather when that motorist collided with another vehicle from behind, prompting a chain-reaction wreck.
CHP affirmed that a total of eight people were injured upon impact. Two parties were extricated after being pinned inside a car.
The names and condition of the victims were not disclosed.
Authorities will continue to investigate.
