2-Vehicle Crash on Cabrillo Highway 1

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (August 31, 2023) — A car accident happened Thursday morning on Cabrillo Highway 1 at Ocean Avenue in Carmel-By-The-Sea.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 6:56 a.m. on August 31st in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of an SUV and a sedan were involved. The Chevrolet Spark car reportedly rear-ended the SUV and sustained major front-end damage.

It happened in the northbound lanes of State Route 1 due to unknown circumstances.

Paramedics responded to the scene to help those hurt in the crash.

Meanwhile, at least one of the vehicles required a tow truck to remove it from the roadway.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Carmel accident on Highway 1.
