Aiden Ortiz Fatal Pedestrian Accident Seneca Road in Adelanto
Boy, 12, Struck and Killed in Adelanto
ADELANTO, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2023) — Aiden Ortiz, 12, died after a pedestrian accident on Seneca Road on Monday morning in Adelanto.
The sixth-grader attended Melva Davis Academy of Excellence. He was hit by a vehicle at around 7:10 a.m. on Sept. 25th as he was crossing Seneca Road between Jonathan Street and Delicious Street, ABC 7 News reports.
San Bernardino County Fire sent paramedics to the scene and performed life saving measures on the boy, but he died at the scene.
The Adelanto Elementary School District provided a statement about the collision and the loss of two students this past week who died in collisions:
“On behalf of our Board of Trustees and administration, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of those students who have passed and to our community, who will be feeling the effects of these losses,” the school district stated.
Furthermore, the City of Adelanto is working to reassess the safety of their bus stops, crosswalks, and street signage in the city.
Meanwhile, the Victorville Ribbons Little League started a Gofundme to assist Aiden’s family with funeral costs.
Investigators with the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station are working on the case to determine fault.
