One Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi-Truck Trailer

KERN COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2023) — A fatal crash happened Monday afternoon on Wheeler Ridge Road at Herring Road near Arvin in the Bakersfield area.

The deadly crash occurred at around 3:16 p.m. on Nov. 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a gray semi-truck with empty double trailers and a car collided, causing the car and truck to catch on fire.

Unfortunately, one person in the car sustained major injuries and was trapped in their vehicle. The person died on scene and the Kern County Sheriff Coroner responded, but has not released the victim’s name.

There are no other injuries from the crash.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Wheeler Ridge Road were completely blocked due to the crash. Police closed down the road between Herring Road and Highway 223 to conduct an investigation into what happened.
