Fatal Buena Park Crash La Palma Avenue and Knott Avenue
One Killed, Four Hurt in Collision in Buena Park
BUENA PARK, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2023) – One person is dead and at least five more were injured after a police pursuit ended in a crash at La Palma Avenue and Knott Avenue in Buena Park.
The deadly collision occurred at around 11:55 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20th, according to KTLA 5 News.
Authorities identified a stolen black sedan in the drive-through lane at a McDonald’s restaurant on Beach Boulevard. Buena Park Police used their vehicles to block in the sedan, but the driver drove up over a curb to exit the drive-through lane.
A chase ensued and the black vehicle collided with a white Mercedes roughly a mile away from the McDonald’s restaurant. The stolen vehicle also hit a pedestrian on a bicycle and overturned onto its side before catching on fire.
Paramedics responded and pronounced one person from the black car deceased at the scene and freed a passenger trapped in the vehicle.
At least four people including two adults and two or three children from the Mercedes were taken to hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The person with the bicycle was also treated at the hospital for unknown injuries.
Investigators continue to work on the case and the name of the deceased will be released after relatives are notified about the Buena Park crash.
