Fatal Bicycle Accident in Fountain Valley
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (Nov. 29, 2023) — Charlie Chen, 68, of Fountain Valley, died a week ago in a bicycle accident at Ellis Avenue and Magnolia Street in Fountain Valley.
The traffic accident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 21st, according to News Santa Ana.
Barbara Peters, 84, of Huntington Beach, was driving a black Honda Accord that reportedly made a left turn from westbound Ellis Avenue onto southbound Magnolia Street. That’s when she hit the bicyclist as he was riding eastbound on Ellis Avenue in the south crosswalk.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured bicyclist identified as Charlie Chen to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver stopped her vehicle and cooperated with the investigation.
Police do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the crash.
Finally, witnesses may call the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. The incident number is #23-40091.
