Hit-and-run Driver Sought in Deadly Crash in Downtown Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2023) — A fatal Oakland pedestrian accident happened early Friday at West Grand Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in downtown.

An unidentified 34-year-old man was struck by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop and fled the scene, according to East Bay Times.

The deadly crash occurred at about 12:33 a.m. on Dec. 1st at the Oakland intersection, the report said.

The victim was was walking in a crosswalk in an eastbound direction on West Grand Avenue. A dark colored vehicle traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way struck him in the roadway.

The man sustained major injuries and died at the scene.

Police are heading up an investigation into the Oakland pedestrian accident on Grand Avenue and searching for the suspect and vehicle involved.
