Motorcycle Accident Interstate 5 Freeway, Florence Avenue in Downey

Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Motorcyclist

DOWNEY, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2023) — A motorcycle and cars were involved in an accident Monday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway at Florence Avenue in Downey.

The multi-vehicle collision occurred at around 7:24 a.m. on Dec. 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the motorcycle rider and a black Dodge sedan collided in the fast lane of the I-5 Freeway due to unknown circumstances.

Then three other vehicles stopped or collided in the middle lanes of the freeway. It is unknown if the other drivers were involved in a collision or stopped to help the first two motorists.

Police called the Downey Fire Department and Santa Fe Fire Department to respond to help those injured in the collision, just south of Florence Avenue. Meanwhile, at least one person was treated for minor injuries, but there are no further details at this time.

A tow truck removed the damaged motorcycle from the freeway.

Finally, the CHP is heading up the investigation into the Downey accident on the 5 Freeway.
