La Mesa Car Accident on I-8 Freeway

LA MESA, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2023) — A multi-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday morning on the westbound Interstate 8 Freeway, just west of State Route Highway 125 in La Mesa.

The collision occurred at around 6:50 a.m. on Dec. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police are working to determine what caused a crash involving at least five vehicles including a white Honda Civic, a black van, and a black or blue Kia Optima.

One of the drivers sustained injuries and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Also, authorities requested a blood tech at the hospital determine if drugs and or alcohol was a factor in the collision for one of the injured motorists.

Authorities issued a SigAlert around 7:11 a.m. for the westbound lanes of the I-8 Freeway.

The case remains under investigation to determine fault.
