Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Semi-Truck on I-5 Freeway

STOCKTON, Calif. (Jan. 2, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident happened in Stockton early Tuesday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Downing Avenue.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 5:09 a.m. on Jan. 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver in a big rig truck reportedly struck the motorcyclist who went down near the left shoulder and the center divider, according to a witness who called 911.

The Stockton Fire Department responded to help the motorcyclist, but unfortunately the person died at the scene of the crash.

Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver stopped on the right shoulder after the collision. Police issued a SigAlert due to the fatality crash and all traffic lanes reopened by 6:10 a.m.

The case remains under investigation.
