Woman, 79, Killed in Hit-and-run Crash is Identified
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2024) — Gloria Provencio has been identified as the 79-year-old woman who died Wednesday in a pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver at Stockdale Highway and Real Road in Bakersfield.
The elderly woman was found with major injuries in the 3800 block of Stockdale Highway at around 11:33 p.m. on Jan. 10th.
Unfortunately, she later died at the scene of the crash, KGET reports. The Kern County Sheriff Coroner later released the victim’s identity, Bakersfield Now reports.
Meanwhile, the driver who hit the woman in the westbound lanes of Stockdale Highway, fled the scene without stopping to help her or call police. At this time, there is no description of the suspect or vehicle.
Finally, the Bakersfield Police Department is investigating the collision and asking witnesses or anyone with information to call them at 661-327-7111.
