Motorcyclist Killed, Pickup Truck Driver Arrested for Alleged DUI
MODESTO, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle versus pickup truck accident on Crows Landing Road and Ehrlich Road happened Saturday night in Modesto.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash occurred at around 8 p.m. on Jan. 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A 47-year-old man driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck allegedly failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist and the two vehicles collided at the intersection, according to a report by KCRA 3 News. There is a stop sign posted for drivers on Ehrlich Road entering Crows Landing Road, but not for motorists on Crows Landing Road.
Motorcycle Rider Killed in Accident on Crows Landing Road
Upon impact, the 46-year-old man riding the motorcycle was thrown off the bike and into the roadway. The victim was found underneath the pickup truck when police and paramedics arrived.
Despite CPR efforts by paramedics to save the motorcycle rider’s life, the victim died at the scene. The rider’s name was not released, pending notification of his family.
Meanwhile, authorities determined the driver in the white pickup truck was allegedly DUI. Police arrested the man on suspicion of drunk driving, but there are no further details.
The motorcycle accident on Crows Landing Road remains under investigation.
