Speed Contest Leads to Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2024) — Two motorists were allegedly engaged in a speed contest and collided other vehicles including a tour bus on the Interstate 405 Freeway, just north of Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred on the northbound I-405 at around 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 24th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a tour bus, a Ford SUV, a white Honda CR-V, a Lexus and a gray Audi were involved. The CHP report stated the driver in the Audi was one of the two vehicles involved in the “speed contest.” The motorist, a Hispanic male with a ponytail, “failed to stop after the crash. “possibly walked off from northbound 405/Jefferson on-ramp,” the report said.
The Culver City and Los Angeles fire departments responded to the scene of the crash to help those injured, but there are no specific details.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on the 405 Freeway.
