Victorville Man, 22, Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash
HESPERIA, Calif. (July 24, 2024) — Anthony J. Rodriguez, 22, died in a Hesperia motorcycle accident Tuesday night at Maple Avenue and Sycamore Street.
The young man was identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office as the motorcyclist who died following a collision with a black GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck at the intersection, Victor Valley News Group reports.
It happened at 7:17 pm on July 23, 2024 at the Hesperia intersection. Anthony Rodriguez, who is from Victorville, was riding a red and black 2018 Suzuki GSX-S motorcycle and traveling northbound on Maple Avenue.
Meanwhile, a driver in a black GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck turned left from Sycamore Street onto Maple Avenue directly into the path of the motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider was unable to avoid hitting the pickup truck and the two vehicles collided.
Paramedics responded and transported the motorcyclist to Desert Valley Hospital, but his condition worsened and he later died at the hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault as well as whether any charges will be filed against the truck driver.
Finally, the area where the crash took place is known to have frequent accidents and neighbors told news reporters the city of Hesperia should install a traffic signal or a 4-way stop sign.
