Fatal Motorcycle Collision on I-110 in Carson

CARSON, Calif. (March 17, 2025) — A fatal motorcycle collision occurred this morning on the northbound I-110 freeway, just south of Sepulveda Blvd in Carson, California.

The collision, reported around 9:59 AM on March 17th, involved a motorcycle and a black SUV or truck, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP officials reported the motorcyclist struck the SUV or truck in the No. 4 lane due to unknown circumstances, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike. The accident blocked several lanes, creating significant traffic congestion.

Los Angeles County Fire sent paramedics to the scene, and the Los Angeles County Coroner was notified at 11:20 AM.

The motorcyclist, identified as 24-year-old Julio Rivas Rivera, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash resulted in the closure of multiple lanes on the northbound I-110, with a SigAlert issued around 10:35 AM for approximately three hours.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have asked drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Motorists were warned of delays as CHP officers work to clear the scene and gather details about the cause of the crash.
