Cathedral City Man Identified as Man Killed in Crash
WHITEWATER, Calif. (March 20, 2025) — Christopher Rodriguez, 28, of Cathedral City, died early Wednesday, March 12th in a crash involving a DUI suspect on the eastbound I-10 Freeway. It happened just west of Highway 62 and Palm Springs in the Whitewater area of Riverside County.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene at approximately 2:20 AM., east of Whitewater River.
A 25-year-old Thousand Palms man was driving a silver 2024 Honda Civic and the Cathedral City man was his passenger. The driver reportedly lost control and crashed, causing the car to overturn.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the death of the passenger, but the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, the report said.
Police investigating the crash later arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
CHP authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
