Two-Vehicle Collision Near Mono Lake Leaves One Injured

MONO COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2025) — A two-vehicle car accident on U.S. Highway 395 near Mono City and Mono Lake disrupted traffic Friday afternoon and left one passenger with serious injuries.

The crash occurred around 1:53 p.m. on April 11th and involved a gray Jeep and a gray minivan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Both vehicles came to rest on opposite shoulders of the highway, with the Jeep missing its entire left-side wheel assembly and stopped on the northbound shoulder and the minivan was on the southbound shoulder.

Multiple motorists stopped to assist before emergency crews arrived. One passenger reported severe pain from the waist down and was treated by responders. A woman was reportedly out of her vehicle and lying on her back.

CHP units and emergency services responded quickly, and a tow truck was dispatched from Lee Vining with a five-minute estimated arrival time.

Traffic was temporarily halted, and debris scattered across both lanes was cleared shortly after.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
