Collision Snarls Traffic on I-680 in San Jose

San Jose, CA (April 18, 2025) — A three-vehicle collision early Friday morning caused major traffic delays on northbound Interstate 680 just south of the Capitol Expressway offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash was reported around 6:16 a.m. on April 18th, involved a white Infiniti QX60, an older white Nissan Maxima, and a black sedan. Initial reports suggest that the Infiniti, which sustained moderate front-end damage, collided head-on with another vehicle after reportedly traveling the wrong way. The slow lane and multiple additional lanes were blocked for a period, contributing to significant commuter delays.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and medical responders were quickly on the scene, treating two injured individuals. A second ambulance was dispatched shortly after the first arrived.

Towing services were requested for all involved vehicles, with Economy Tow and Matow Towing assisting in vehicle removal from the crash site.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash. No fatalities have been reported at this time. All lanes were expected to reopen later in the morning.
