Motorcyclist Killed in Chula Vista Crash Identified as 47-Year-Old Local Resident
Chula Vista, CA (April 18, 2025) — Josue Calderon Alcala, 47, of Chula Vista, has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a Chula Vista crash on Wednesday at Max Avenue and East Orange Avenue.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man on its website.
The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday, April 16, at approximately 5:36 p.m. at the Chula Vista intersection, the report said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Josue Calderon Alcala was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on East Orange Avenue when a westbound Audi SUV attempted to make a left turn onto Max Avenue. The two vehicles collided within the intersection and the rider suffered major injuries.
Emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire personnel, were dispatched to the scene following a 911 call.
Despite their efforts to save his life, Alcala was pronounced dead at the scene 5:44 p.m. due to multiple blunt force injuries to the head, trunk, and extremities, the coroner said.
The Chula Vista Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident. The Medical Examiner’s Office has classified the manner of death as accidental, and no contributing medical conditions were noted.
