Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near I-5 and SR-91 in Westminster

Westminster, CA (April 19, 2025) — A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday morning in a collision involving multiple vehicles near the interchange of I-5 Freeway and State Route 91 in Westminster.

The crash was reported at approximately 11:09 a.m. on April 19th, when witnesses said the rider fell off the right shoulder of the freeway near the train tracks.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a black motorcycle, a Kia, and an unknown third vehicle. Both visible vehicles were found on the right shoulder, and no lanes were blocked.

Early dispatch notes suggest the possibility of a hit-and-run, with officers investigating whether a third vehicle fled the scene. Union Pacific Railroad was also notified due to the incident’s proximity to the tracks.

A SigAlert was issued for the area with a hard closure requested to assist emergency crews and investigators. The Orange County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at approximately 11:40 a.m.

An evidence tow was arranged for the motorcycle, and the SigAlert remained in place for nearly two hours while CHP and Caltrans personnel conducted cleanup and documentation. The impacted roadway was fully reopened around 1:06 p.m.

No other injuries have been reported. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

CHP is continuing the investigation and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
