Robert Spittler Killed in Crash on 17th Street, C Street in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 1, 2025) — Robert Spittler, 44, of Coronado, died last Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on 17th Street and C Street in the East Village area of San Diego.
The traffic collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. on April 26th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The 44-year-old Coronado man was traveling south on 17th Street when a suspected drunk driver crashed into his vehicle, police said.
Firefighters extricated the unconscious man from his damaged vehicle and an ambulance rushed him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest where he died 30 minutes after the collision.
Meanwhile, police arrested the 21-year-old man driving the other vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
