Pedestrian Killed in Long Beach Crash at PCH and Santa Fe Avenue

LONG BEACH, Calif. (May 19, 2025) – An investigation is underway into the cause of a fatal pedestrian accident Sunday night in Long Beach at Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue.
The deadly collision occurred at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 18th, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
A driver reportedly struck the man in the roadway at the intersection. Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and the victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified.
Long Beach Pedestrian Accidents on the Rise
It’s the latest of several deadly pedestrian accidents in the Long Beach area. Tung Nguyen Cao, 29, was struck and killed three days earlier at Seventh Street at Channel Drive in Long Beach.
Indeed, the city of Long Beach has a high rate of injury and fatality crashes, according to the Office of Traffic Safety. Records show the city had 359 pedestrians injured or killed in 2022, ranking the city in second place among 15 similarly sized cities in California.
