Fatal Bakersfield Crash Highway 166, west of Old Farm Road

Driver Killed, Two Injured in Head-on Crash on SR-166
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2025) — A fatal, head-on crash happened in Bakersfield Sunday night on Highway 166, just west of Old Farm Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the collision on Maricopa Highway around 9:44 p.m. on May 18th, 2025.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision including a black truck and a white pickup truck, the report said.
Kern County Fire responded and located a man dead in the black truck, but his female passenger survived with major injuries. She was taken to a landing pad where she was airlifted to a trauma center in Bakersfield.
Meanwhile, the driver of the white pickup truck was transported by ambulance to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The CHP is heading up the investigation to determine fault.
