Head-on Crash Highway 29, Spruce Grove Road in Lower Lake

Head-On Crash Causes Major Injuries, Road Closures on Highway 29
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 23, 2025) — A head-on collision Sunday afternoon left three people injured on southbound Highway 29 near Spruce Grove Road North in Lower Lake in Lake County, authorities said.
The two-vehicle crash was reported on Dec. 22nd at 3:52 p.m. along southbound State Route 29 between the 16210 and 16352 blocks, just north of Spruce Grove, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs.
Preliminary information indicated a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck collided head-on with a white Toyota SUV. One of the vehicles was partially blocking the roadway, and at least one person was reported trapped inside a vehicle, prompting an upgraded response and the classification of the incident as a major-injury collision.
Cal Fire units from St. Helena, CHP officers, and Caltrans crews responded to the scene. Due to the severity of the crash and debris in the roadway, southbound traffic on Highway 29 was shut down and diverted onto Clayton Creek and Cole Creek roads while emergency crews worked to rescue occupants and clear the scene.
CHP logs indicated both vehicles sustained major front-end damage. Tow trucks were called to remove the vehicles, including one for a large pickup truck and another for a passenger vehicle.
By approximately 4:45 p.m., authorities reported the roadway had reopened and traffic was flowing normally. One to three people were injured and possibly transported for medical care, though the extent of injuries and identities of those involved were not released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
