MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2025) — Yoseph Asfaw, a 37-year-old Moreno Valley resident, died Monday evening after a two-vehicle collision at Alessandro Boulevard and Frederick Street in Moreno Valley, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 6:19 p.m. Dec. 29 at the busy Moreno Valley intersection, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and fire officials. Firefighters arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles, a sheared fire hydrant, and one patient trapped inside a vehicle, requiring extrication.
Asfaw sustained critical injuries and was transported to Riverside University Health Systems Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m., the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said. Another person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Frederick Street was closed for approximately four to six hours while emergency crews worked and investigators processed the scene.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office – Moreno Valley Station is investigating the cause of the collision. Further details were not immediately released.
