Teen Injured in Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway Near Griffith Park

A 15-Year-Old Boy Was Hospitalized after Collision
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2026) – A teenage boy was critically injured Friday night after becoming trapped in a two-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Griffith Park, authorities said.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched on Jan. 9th shortly before 8:20 p.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Los Feliz Boulevard exit following reports of a collision with a vehicle that struck the center divider. One of the occupants, a 15-year-old boy, was pinned inside the wreckage.
Firefighters worked for approximately 12 minutes to extricate the teen before he was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to LAFD officials.
The circumstances leading up to the crash were not immediately known, and the incident remains under investigation.
