Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Apple Valley Road (2/13)

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2026) — A pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash Friday evening on Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley, authorities said.

The collision was reported around 7:06 p.m. on Feb. 13 near Kasota Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Officers responded to reports of a person down in the roadway and confirmed the victim had died at the scene.

The pedestrian’s body was found in the northbound lane near the shoulder. Officials later identified the victim as an elderly man who suffered significant injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators said the case is being treated as a hit-and-run. No suspect vehicle information has been released. A sheriff’s helicopter searched the surrounding area for about an hour.

Apple Valley Road was shut down between Symeron Road and Kinai Road during the investigation, with assistance from town public works crews.
