Evelyn Buangan Castro Killed in Crash at Willow Glen Drive, Jamacha Road

EAST COUNTY, Calif., (April 6, 2026) — Evelyn Buangan Castro, 80, of San Diego, died in a three-vehicle crash last Monday night on Willow Glen Drive at Jamacha Road in the Rancho San Diego area, involving a DUI suspect.
The crash was reported on March 30th at approximately 5:56 p.m., involving a silver or gray SUV, a white small SUV, and another silver vehicle. Authorities arrived at the scene shortly thereafter to find the eastbound lanes blocked due to the severity of the collision. One of the SUVs involved was previously reported for suspected DUI activity before the collision took place.
Emergency response teams, including paramedics and tow services, were dispatched to the scene. The vehicles involved sustained significant front-end damage, necessitating towing services to clear the roadway.
Victims and Emergency Response
According to the San Diego Medical Examiner, Evelyn Buangan Castro was an “unrestrained passenger of a vehicle that collided head-on with another vehicle which apparently veered across the center line of traffic.” She was transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital where she died roughly an hour after the collision.
Ongoing Investigation
The CHP – El cajon is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and the potential involvement of alcohol. They are urging any witnesses or individuals with additional information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
