Deadly Crash State Route 86, Andre Road in Imperial County

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif., (May 13, 2026) — A tragic collision resulted in a fatality early Wednesday morning on State Route 86 near Andre Road in Westmoreland, just north of Brawley in Imperial County.

The incident, reported at approximately 5:12 a.m. on May 13th, involved a big rig and another vehicle. According to the California Highway Patrol, both vehicles were traveling on Highway 86 when the collision occurred, leading to a blockage of the northbound lanes. The exact circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

Emergency responders, including paramedics from AMR, were dispatched to the scene. It was confirmed that two occupants from the non-commercial vehicle required medical attention. Despite the swift arrival of emergency services, the collision tragically resulted in at least one fatality. The coroner’s office was notified, and the identity of the deceased is pending release after family notification.

The El Centro area was affected as the northbound lanes were closed temporarily to allow for the investigation and clearing of the scene. Premier Tow was called to assist in removing the vehicles involved.

Authorities are actively investigating the cause of this fatal accident and are appealing to witnesses to come forward with any information that may aid in their investigation.
