Fatal Crash Interstate 10 Freeway, Cactus Rest Area Near Mecca

MECCA, Calif. (July 29, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway left one dead and two injured on Wednesday near the Cactus Rest Area and Mecca.

Firefighters responded around 7:01 a.m. on July 29th and assisted three people who were hurt in the crash, however, one of them died at the scene.

Meanwhile, there was a second person who suffered major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Finally, a third patient was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision.
