Major Collision on Palm Drive, 20th Ave in Desert Hot Springs

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2026) — A major-injury traffic collision occurred Tuesday afternoon at Palm Drive and 20th Avenue in Desert Hot Springs, resulting in significant damage and injuries.

The incident was reported on Sept. 1st at approximately 2:24 p.m., involving two vehicles, including a black Nissan Sentra. The crash occurred on the northbound side of 20th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Emergency responders, including CAL FIRE, arrived on the scene shortly after the collision to provide aid. At least one individual sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. The vehicles suffered significant front-end damage, with the Sentra being one of the involved vehicles.

Authorities have not yet released the names or ages of those injured. The scene required the assistance of multiple towing services, including AARCO Towing and Dave’s Towing, to clear the damaged vehicles from the roadway.

The Indio Police Department and the CHP are conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision. They are urging any witnesses to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
