Traffic Collision Involving Semi-Truck and SUV Near SDUS Campus
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (Sept. 15, 2026) — A traffic collision involving a semi-truck and an SUV occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 8 West in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Sept. 15th near the College Avenue on-ramp in the San Diego State University area.
According to initial reports, a blue Nissan SUV was blocking the slow lane after colliding with a semi-truck. The SUV reportedly sustained major front-end damage. Emergency units arrived at the scene shortly after being dispatched, with the first unit arriving at 8:06 a.m.
Efforts were made to move the damaged SUV to the right-hand side of the road to clear the traffic lane. Additionally, absorbent materials were requested to manage an oil spill resulting from the collision. The tow request for the SUV was later canceled.
At this time, the extent of injuries from the collision remains unknown, and no further details regarding the individuals involved have been released. The incident is under investigation by local authorities, who are also appealing to witnesses to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
