LATHROP, Calif., (October 26, 2026) — A crash involving major injuries happened early Monday morning on the Interstate 5 Freeway North near the Lathrop Road off-ramp in Lathrop.

The incident happened around 3:42 a.m. on Oct. 26th, involving two vehicles, including a Ford that reportedly caught fire. Emergency responders arrived to find both vehicles ablaze, with all lanes blocked. The chaotic scene required the coordinated efforts of multiple emergency service units to manage the situation.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision began when a vehicle was reportedly struck by a semi-truck. Details from the incident log indicate that fire personnel were on site attempting to extricate an individual trapped in one of the burning vehicles.

Both parties involved in the collision were transported to San Joaquin General Hospital with major injuries. The identities of those injured have not been released at this time.
