Fatal Crash on US101 South Near San Juan Road, Hollister Gilroy Area

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif., (Nov. 3, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash in Aromas resulted in a fatality early Tuesday morning on US Highway 101 South near San Juan Road in the Hollister-Gilroy area.

The incident was reported on Nov. 3rd at approximately 2:23 a.m. and involved at least two vehicles, including a white sedan, a second vehicle, and a green Honda four-door sedan. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle rollover occurred, with one vehicle possibly in pieces in the number one lane, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log.

Emergency responders, including units from the local fire department and American Medical Response (AMR), arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. The accident led to temporary closures of all southbound lanes on the highway, with Caltrans assisting in reopening the lanes by 8:16 a.m.

One individual was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene, while others involved in the crash sustained varying degrees of injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to this severe accident and are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
