Transient Man, 45, Victim in Pedestrian Accident

DATE OF INCIDENT: Friday, May 25th
May 30, 2018- According to the Times Herald, a 45-year-old transient man sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian last week at Highway 29 and Rio Del Mar.
Authorities responded to the scene of the collision at 8:50 p.m. where the driver of a Subaru Forrester only ID’d as a 70-year-old Napa man hit the victim as he crossed the intersection.
The unidentified victim suffered grave injuries for which he received life-saving efforts from paramedics who eventually rushed him to a trauma center and last listed to be in critical condition.
Per the article, the vehicle’s driver did indeed stop following the collision and was open to questioning via police officials who were able to rule out that the driver was under the influence.
No further details have been released in regards to whether the victim had the right-of-way or if the driver possessed a green light prior to going through the intersection.
California Highway Patrol will be the agency handling the investigation.
