Driver and Passenger in Honda CRV Hospitalized
DATE OF COLLISION: Saturday, September 22nd
September 24, 2018- According to the Merced Sun-Star, a man has been arrested following a DUI head-on crash in which two motorists were injured at his expense over the weekend at Applegate Road and Commerce Avenue.
The collision transpired at precisely 7:24 p.m. when Ruben Romo, 45, of Atwater, allowed his vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic at the intersection striking a 2017 Honda CRV.
Both the driver and passenger in the CRV who are only being ID’d as Atwater residents were injured and transported via ambulance to Emmanuel Medical Center located in the city of Turlock. Their injuries were reported to have ranged from minor to moderate, per the Sun-Star.

Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash site and examined Romo determining that he indeed was under the influence. He was arrested at the scene and taken to Merced County Jail.
Romo’s bail has been set at $200,103, the article added.
