Valley Center Head-on Crash Tuesday on Lilac RoadElderly Married Couple Victims in Fatal DUI Crash

VALLEY CENTER (June 27, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a deadly head-on collision was reported Thursday afternoon at the address of 28784 Lilac Road.

CHP officials were notified of the wreck involving two vehicles at 1:15 p.m. near the 15 Freeway and Highway 76.

An update provided by the San Diego Union-Tribune read that the vehicles involved included a 2007 Ford Explorer Sports Trac and a Mercedes E300.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 27-year-old woman, had been headed eastbound before veering into westbound lanes directly into the path of the Mercedes occupied by Bobby Durant, 83, and Alleta Jo Durant, 81.

The crash tragically left both Bobby and Alleta Jo Durant with fatal injuries caused by the drunk driver of the Ford.

The Ford driver suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital and remained in critical care as of Wednesday morning.

It has been predetermined that the unidentified 27-year-old woman who is from Escondido was indeed under the influence at the time of the accident after tests turned out positive for drugs.

Major traffic delays as roughly 20 gallons worth of chlorine covered the road.

This story will be updated pending the release of more information.

HELP FOR FAMILY AND INJURED VICTIMS

Lilac Road has been considered one of the most dangerous streets to drive on in San Diego County as there have been numerous major car accidents over the course of the past few years. It is imperative to proceed with caution and awareness of your surroundings especially in the late evening or early stages of the morning where there may be drunk drivers present. JAG Founder James Johnson recently worked an auto accident case which took place on Lilac Road as he is very familiar with the road itself and its dangers.

Based on this news report, it is clear the 27-year-old woman who was impaired at the wheel will be held liable for this collision. The family members of Bobby and Alleta Jo Durant will have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault party due to her negligence and wrongdoing. The family members of the victims may seek restitution for damages including funeral costs, lost future income and loss of love and companionship.
