Elderly Married Couple Victims in Fatal DUI Crash
VALLEY CENTER (June 27, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a deadly head-on collision was reported Thursday afternoon at the address of 28784 Lilac Road.
CHP officials were notified of the wreck involving two vehicles at 1:15 p.m. near the 15 Freeway and Highway 76.
An update provided by the San Diego Union-Tribune read that the vehicles involved included a 2007 Ford Explorer Sports Trac and a Mercedes E300.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 27-year-old woman, had been headed eastbound before veering into westbound lanes directly into the path of the Mercedes occupied by Bobby Durant, 83, and Alleta Jo Durant, 81.
The crash tragically left both Bobby and Alleta Jo Durant with fatal injuries caused by the drunk driver of the Ford.
The Ford driver suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital and remained in critical care as of Wednesday morning.
It has been predetermined that the unidentified 27-year-old woman who is from Escondido was indeed under the influence at the time of the accident after tests turned out positive for drugs.
Major traffic delays as roughly 20 gallons worth of chlorine covered the road.
